Christmas is a magical time of year for everyone, but more so for children, who anticipate the holiday with great joy and delight visiting under the Christmas tree.  Discover the Magic Toy Drive first got started in 2002 when founder, Claudia G. de Velasco, saw a need for patients at Texas Children’s Hospital to enjoy Christmas just as much as any other child, despite their sickness or failing health.

In 2002, Discover the Magic received well over 200 toys, thanks to the countless supporters and volunteers of the Houston community.  The toys, ranging from tricycles to stuffed animals, video games to jigsaw puzzles, where delivered to Texas Children’s Hospital where the resident Santa Clause distributed all the toys.  The look in a child’s eye when receiving a toy is indescribable and so rewarding!
